Well of course the Keyboard/multibutton mouse is now fact like steering wheels on cars. It's here to stay.

Apple dragged it's feet on the multibutton mouse due to Jobs ego. That is what is interesting. It illuminates Jobs' mind. But it's a trivial thing and it's over.

Even though Jobs has been stubborn to negative effect in the past, in my estimation he's matured and doesn't make many of those types of ego related mistakes any more. So in reality the ending of the great mouse controversy means that Apple is stronger than ever because Jobs is wiser now.
