Not according to the article you linked to and quoted.


I was referring to violent crime; the assist Attorney General was referring to overall crime. Violent crime began to uptick in 2001 slowly at first and faster as time went on. He makes mention of it here in the following statement......although its not as recent as his statement suggests:

"We recognize that some jurisdictions are experiencing a recent increase in certain types of violent crime," McNulty said."

In fact, I believe the number of Seattle homicides for the entire 12 months of 2005 was exceeded in the first six months of 2006.
