Actually, I live in Vancouver, not Tofino. I used to go there for a getaway from my home in Vancouver or Victoria before it upscaled to become "Whistler by the Sea".

I don't mind rain, in fact I love storms, so maybe I'll check out the prices in February one of these years for a visit.

One year my ex and I were crazy enough to do some van camping at Chesterman Beach in December -- we were young and in love, you know the thing. It was rather chilly, but one day it dawned warm and sunny so we chartered a floatplane to run us out to Hot Springs Cove and back and had this amazing spot to ourselves all day. The hot springs drain right into a cove facing the open Pacific.

Don't let me scare you off, as Tofino and Long Beach is a must-see at least once in your life. You can stay in Ucluelet, although that's getting expensive too, or even make a very long day trip from Nanaimo or Parksville.

Isn't Tofino an imaginary place? Sort of like Shangri-la-la
?
