Patty, that's a stroke of genius.

After being President, any position in a US administration would be a bit of a step down. He could actually be a better UN Sec. Gen than he was president. And I wasn't too crazy about him as President.

But I could see him being Sec General. Not sure where his support would come from, though. He's pretty popular in Europe, probbaly Africa. Not sure about Russia and China or, frankly, the ME. He might even be too much of an activist to really fir the Sec. Gen mold, but he also might be just short of being distasteful enough to many that he could get the support of many. He's certainly enough of an internationalist.

And can you imagine these scenarios?

--The sec gen of the UN going head to head with a conservative Pres. who hates the UN?--except when he can manipulate it, of course.

--The paroxysms of agony and anger among the RWE crowd after seeing him complete a presidency--only to become elevated to the UN???

--Or how about this? Bill Clinton, Sec. Gen of the UN and Al Gore as POTUS? They could be Pres. and VP again. Except which is which??

--The vast right wing conspiracy kicks into gear again after its leader, Richard Mellon Scaife, has a heart attack upon seeing Clinton elected to head the UN.

--After a hard day at the office in UN headquarters, Clinton heads home for a good night's sleep----in the White House. LOLOL!!! Can you just imagine a husband and wife team with that much power?? UNheard of, and quite frankly, how scary!

--The Sec. Gen. going head to head with the US ambassador, or with a US president on the floor of the UN, or in the press. OMG!

--The Sec. General today called upon the US to withdraw its troops from Iraq and close down its bases there or be subject to UN sanctions!!!

--Bill Clinton refused comment today on the news of George Bush's conviction for war crimes by the International Criminal Court.

---etc. etc.

It would all be so juicy, wouldn't it.
