It seems to me you are taking Fred too seriously. I got the feeling he was half-kidding and half-serious about what he wrote. Otherwise, he was having a fine time while writing his piece. If I may say so, his article was well-crafted and very readable. To be sure, while it will no doubt annoy the heck out of many an American man or woman, many others will be hugely entertained. I have posted the same piece elsewhere and, quite surprisingly, the posters who replied were mostly women and most of them conceded that the author had made some valid or partially valid and interesting points. You mentioned the wife that had PMS, that yelled at her kids underfoot and ordered her hubby to take the garbage out and smoke outside. Too bad, you omitted to mention that no hubby could have his heart full of live when his wife has her head full of curlers/rollers or when her hair is dirty. BTW, did you know that Asian women, in particular the Chinese and the Japanese, don't seem to be unduly troubled by their menopause? Maybe this characteristic has enabled them to be rather placid/amiable companions during their middle age? .
