My Dad mentioned the other day how the people in our neighborhood tried to buy our house before we moved in because they didn't want a Jewish family in my neighborhood. My dad's Father preached in the Elim Tabernacle, and my Mom's family was High Anglican. They called us the Jewish family even though we all went to the same Church. The first memory I had of that house, was my Dad punching someone in the face and knocking him off the porch into the mud. I should mention that in the 1950's my Grandfather owned the local Busline, My Great Grand dad was head of the Orange Lodge, and my Grandfathers Brother had run for mayor, and was the President of the Shriners. Grandpa was an OddFellow, so it aint like the people shouldn't have known better.

I have never been Jewish, none of my relatives have ever been Jewish that I know of, but my whole life people have been calling me Jewish. Fortunately I got to deal one on one with a lot of nice Jewish people. It still bothers my dad and mom today, that hidden question, and that happened in 1950. I cannot imagine how Jews deal with it.
