Bush is not at 44%. The latest poll has him at 37%. But say he's at 40%. That after two weeks of the most non-stop 24/7 posturing by the White House campaigners to comment only on one subject, international terrorism, and not mention Iraq, or any of the other issues people are most concerned about. We all want terrorists dead of captured, but this is ridiculous. Besides, Osama Bin Laden is alivre and well and protected by a Bush ally now. "Smoke him out of his cave - dead or alive". Yeah right.

And by the way, even if Bush rises to 44%, that stinks. It's below where Clinton was in 1994 when the GOP took control of congress. That latest poll also shows 77% of the people want the rightwing congress gone and 60% vs. 18% say they were better off 6 years ago than they are today. Plus 66% say we;re on the wrong track and there's a 14% spread dems over GOP congressmen going into the election.

That said, due to the unethical jerrymandering by the GOP there will not be 50+ seats changing hands like in 1994. More like 25. And if Macaca Allen falls, so does the senate. And Webb is clearly a much better candidate. Allen deserves the boot.

Let's see if Bush can keep talking about terrorists for the next 45 days. If he does so, you'll know how truly phony he is.
