I'll just say this. I didn't suggest the proposed rule was 'ridiculous.' I just think it's unnecessary. I also think that, consistent with free speech notions, it makes more sense to allow those who desire to be shielded from the opinions of others, whether due to the content or the manner in which they are expressed, to be their own policemen.

Restraining the expression of an opinion TO a given individual, to the extent "to" is even relevant when the post is simply in response to another public post, seems inappropriate to me.

Finally, I can't disagree that there are some forums and some posters who degenerate to the kindergarten level. I just think that there are other mechanisms in place to handle that problem without enacting a vague rule of prior restraint.
