In rural areas you won't have the services you get in big cities but you don't have the headaches either. Some cities and towns get abandoned because the children go away looking for more opportunities. Other towns have to share things like emergency services or even do without things like paramedics and police. I would say you are paying quite a bit for the value of your house. Why don't you run for office with the pledge to cut property taxes in half but will require volunteers from the community to pick up the slack on services....or do without.
