It isn't the ancestry that was the problem. The question had no bearing on the election, it should not have been asked. It is no more relevant than asking "do you have a black ancestor". It was simply asked to play to antisemitism in the voting public. OTOH the charge that the Demoncrats are anti Israel and antisemitic will be handy in a few weeks when they can be properly deployed in an election
