He's not an idiot. He bears very little financial risk and he's still trying to make money.
This guy along with his mortgage broker belong to jail for lying on mortgage application and defrauding FDIC insured banks. Loan underwriters should be fired.

This is an extension of my previous post on MEW and GDP. In the previous post I assumed that all MEW related consumption was of domestic products and services. In fact some portion of MEW flows to imports - and that doesn't impact GDP.
