I think the difference is that we have moved a step ahead of where we were. What with the Second world war and related things, and the speed with which our society is changing, even today, and it is easy to forget those who are left behind. Look at any community when it starts to change, The problem is that many older communities have held on to their ways. Look at the mennonites and their horses and wagons. The difference is that Islam is aggressive. Islam wants to be the one true way, and the only way for islam to be the one true way is to destroy our way. We have offended them, there is no doubt. To the point where anything we say, any move we make will be offensive. We have offended them in many ways, the worst of which it to feel they were unimportant. And now they want a war to prove their importance. To themselves as much as to us. If we win, they will continue to exist, progress will stop for a time, and then eventually they will become soft and we will kill Islam. Or we can win now, and make islam a valued part of our civilization. Nasrallah says that We love life, and Islam loves death. he is not wrong. It is up to us to choose which death we face. His or Islams.

I can't see the analogy as radical Islamists have claimed they want all infidels dead and Islam to rule the world. If you can't see a teen tiny difference there, well...
