Life expectancy at birth for males in United Kingdom and US reported respectively in 2006 as 76.09 and 75.02, which does not appear to be a statistically significant difference.

Neither country is in the top 20. Maybe you can tell me how many of the countries in the top 20 have national health care.

1
Andorra 83.51 2006 est.
2
Macau 82.19 2006 est.
3
San Marino 81.71 2006 est.
4
Singapore 81.71 2006 est.
5
Hong Kong 81.59 2006 est.
6
Japan 81.25 2006 est.
7
Sweden 80.51 2006 est.
8
Switzerland 80.51 2006 est.
9
Australia 80.50 2006 est.
10

Iceland 80.31 2006 est.

Canada 80.22 2006 est.
13
Cayman Islands 80.07 2006 est.

I would guess, although again, this is not PC, that the major factors in favor of longevity are, in the following order, wealth, education level, access to major hospitals, being ethnic Asian, or else being ethnic Caucasian.

For people without employer subsidized health insurance, the cost of a High Deductible Health Plan together with a Health Savings Account can be less than zero, if you factor in the savings on income tax payments.
opm.gov

This gives excellent coverage for people who suffer high medical expenses due to accidents or illness.

But you have to plan ahead, which many, of course, can't (or won't) do.

The "beauty" of universal health care is that the recipients don't have to think ahead, don't have to plan ahead, don't have to do anything but show up.

But if that's so "beautiful," why is the percentage of Canadians using private health care increasing? The main reason is, waiting times for health care in Canada are increasing, and that's killing people, according to their own Supreme Court.
