Come on! It's not possible to draw a couch that looks like a blob with arms. Just draw what you see. Start with a crude pencil sketch. Then move on to a more finished sketch, picking up the parts of the first one that you like. Essentially, you're just copying the best parts and improving on the others. You may have to go through this drill 5 or 6 times, but if you improve each time, you'll know when you're there. Throw away all the early sketches and only show the best work.

You don't think Rembrandt did his best work in his first attempt, I hope?
