"Admins are not reading the boards; moderators are."

Just so there is no confusion: Every single solitary post on SI has a link beneath it which reads "Report TOU Violation". This ensures that every post that offends any ONE person reading it in the SI community (for LEGITIMATE cause--as being unlawful and a breach of regulation) is subject to OBJECTIVE penalties for non compliance.

Giving moderators carte blanche free rein to exercise SUBJECTIVE prejudice and caprice against the rights of members is simply unfair and demeaning.

It is not "discussion" at all anymore. It is toadyism. Does toadyism give value to members overall? Well, that is for Admin to address with open mind. But an affirmative answer must not brush aside the fact that it is subjective, it is coercive, it is segregationist, and it promotes toadyism and militates against sincere opinion ( discussion) being expressed.

Many of the moderators have been lambasted by other members (and if I'm not mistaken, by Admin) on threads such as "Thread Morons", yet these same individuals are being put in charge of the farmyard a la Orwell. With all due respect, many of us consider it to be mediocre and improper.

I'd say Solon made some excellent points in his response to your post. In many cases, the inmates are running the prison.

As to the TOU, they are so broad and vague as to be meaningless. In many cases I doubt you could give valid and meaningful reasons why one post broke them and another didn't (although these days it seems none do). As written, if moderators enforce them, they are simply an invitation to abuse. If you can't tell what is and isn't a violation, how is some Average Joe who starts a thread?

Threats? That's in there. I got one last week. I saw no point in reporting it because I knew you'd weasel out of any enforcement action.

H***, maybe the Brits will do a better job at this. They've spent close to a thousand years developing a fair legal system.
