I don't know why people post places where there are people they obviously have issues with. I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt- and the t-shirt said "This Is Just Unpleasant"

I see no point in harassing people. Any of us who read (and I grant you, that may be fewer of us than I assume)- know all the pov's- those that support our own ideas, and those that oppose them. It's not brain surgery finding a few blogs that represent the mainstream and marginal thoughts of the (mainly) two sided political debate in this country. Why people on SI think it is vital for people who obviously can't stand each other to "debate" ideas that aren't actually being debated, and could much more easily just be read off a website, I've no clue. I think it all comes down to a need for ritual combat. And that's fine- but call it what it is, and understand that not everyone is interested, and that ritual combat has nothing whatsoever to do with ideas, or free speech.
