The truth is that the Iraq War has increased terrorism.

Personally, I think that is an over simplification. The Taleban government was set up and backed by Al-Qaida. Many areas of the world are governed by regional war lords similar to what had been in place for centuries in Afghanistan, and this model was being looked at as an effective way to organize and secure fundamentalist governments around the world. Terrorism was one of the many elements of the Al-Qaida method. Terrorism was gaining momentum and targeting primarily western organizations and order, with us identified as the head of their great western enemy.

They were the teeth of the Taleban government. What nations do they currently rule??? none.

We have been effective to deflate those Al-Qaida balloons. They are not defeated yet and they could get pumped up again quite easily.

Terrorism in Iraq was non-existent and now is the main front on the war on terror but I am convinced we would be looking at the same enemy, spread much in a much broader and harder to reach fashion if they had not surfaced in Iraq.

Terrorism increased in Iraq, but had we done nothing we might be looking at insurgencies, violent clashes, and toppling governments throughout the world. Instead we are seeing societies struggling to adapt and change in a more natural social evolution as cultures are blending. If Iraq is successful as a democratic nation, we may see a positive backlash with terror organizations disbanding in the process.
