Perhaps you missed my drift. I was addressing how threads are moderated by individuals not how SI runs the site at large. My comments were largely philosophical in terms of how posters (and people in general) deal with one another in the exchange of ideas, or in some cases, in restricting the exchange of ideas. I do find it noteworthy that there are already features designed to "protect" posters from ideas or people they don't like for whatever reason (e.g.. bans and ignores)and would therefore question whether any other such screening tools are really necessary. Obviously "management" can decide how many "bats" to supply to those who apparently feel the need for so many tools of protection....More power to 'em.
