i think it's a cool idea. of course, even an electric car is effectively running on hydrocarbons--they are just hydrocarbons used to produce electricity, instead of being combusted in your engine.

if their car does what they say it can they will have no problem selling 1000 units or whatever. but it will be a long time before the infrastructure is in place to make these practical vehicles for ordinary people.

i don't think they break even on 1000 units. that is only $100 million--it probably cost more than that just to develop the technology. but if they prove to be good products, they will have no problem getting all the backing they need for the next 5 years. then they can sell themselves to GM -ng-.

That is one cool car! The best part of it was this last paragraph...
we roll back into The Lodge at Pebble Beach, where we began our drive, a crowd gathers. Within minutes well-heeled car nuts are pouring over the car. The Tesla seems to be a hit. In fact the first “Signature One Hundred” special edition cars are already sold out.
