Liberal soft underbelly: "They were fearful that Osama would die in the kidnapping and the U.S. would be blamed for using assassination as an instrument of policy."

Never let it be said the U.S. would eliminate an inhumane mass murderer from the Earth. FDR & Harry Truman are covering their faces in shame and disbelief.

The rightwing smears against Clinton are 100% dishonest.

If someone were lying about and smearing you, wouldn't you respond to correct them?

Can I call you a child molester? Is that OK with you? You're not going to get angry? You don't want to respond?

If I spread word to everyone you know that you're a rapist and murderer even though you've done nothing wrong, is that OK? Are you not justified to be angry?

So quit defending Bushie smear artists. Almost nothing the rightwing has charged the Clintons with over the years turned out to be true, including rape, murder, drug-running, selling out to the chinese or being soft on terrorism. Those are all outright lies.

In fact it was the same rightwingers who complained in 1998 when Clinton went after Bin LAden with 150 cruise missiles.

Top Clinton adviser faces crime inquiry
FOREIGN STAFF
Wed 21 Jul 2004

ONE of former United States president Bill Clinton’s national security advisers is under criminal investigation after highly classified terrorism documents disappeared, it emerged yesterday.

Sandy Berger’s home and office were searched earlier this year by FBI agents armed with warrants after the former Clinton adviser voluntarily returned some sensitive documents to the US national archives.

He admitted he also removed handwritten notes he made while reviewing the sensitive documents to decide which should be turned over to the commission looking into the 11 September attacks.

However, some drafts of a sensitive after-action report on the Clinton administration’s handling of al-Qaeda terror threats during the December 1999 millennium celebration are still missing, officials and lawyers said. But Al Felzenberg, a spokesman for the 11 September commission, said yesterday the Berger investigation will not impact on the panel’s work in any way.

The deputy attorney general, James Comey, said prosecutors take "very, very seriously" any allegation of mishandling of classified documents.

Mr Berger and his lawyer said on Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket and trousers, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.

"I deeply regret the sloppiness involved, but I had no intention of withholding documents from the commission, and to the contrary, to my knowledge, every document requested by the commission from the Clinton administration was produced," Mr Berger said in a statement.
