I'd go further. Wanna throw rocks, Ann? It's been known for DECADES in AZ and UT that there were polygamists along the border between the two states. I was born and raised in AZ and I heard about as a kid. Now I agree with Jim- -it's not the Church's place to do more than ban it and excommunicate its practitioners- -which it has done. It IS the responsibility of both states to enforce their laws. Only recently have they even bothered trying and only because the feds are also investigating.

Polygamy has been a way of life in uncivilized countries such as those in the MidEast, however, it has never been a way of life in most western nations. The arrangement suppresses women's AND children's rights. It trivializes the value of a woman's life and appeals to ignorant men who are really the only ones who benefit. The women and children are brain-washed from birth and have no other frame of reference, therefore they obediently comply with the community's pressures. Polygamy is tolerated by only insulated, backward cultures.
Otherwise, it's fine.
