"Another problem is who is going to be the arbiter of truth. The standard of facts based truth is different than opinion on how to proceed politically. Reporters can publish a story before having all the facts, or when they have been given incorrect facts, like the death toll during a catastrophic event. Knowingly reporting falsehoods to promote a political agenda should be a crime (hard to prove). Slander and liable is a crime (also hard to prove and expensive to prosecute). My bottom line here is the same as the thread header. Until we encourage a culture based on personal honor, toward restoration or establishment of that which is held in common as good, such as justice; or efforts to liberate self and others from grosser endeavors of human existence is a lost cause. When we don't the value of personal honor for all our members, then we are left with a society that thrives on trickery and deceit, of eating or being eaten. I refuse to accept it without a fight.
