You lost me on the tar thing. My complaint is watching people spin arguments where the strands of the web are illusory, and don't actually support anything except a verbal storm of emotion.

That is how I would characterize the blogger's assertion, or his "actual argument" if you prefer. If you consider testing assertions to be a diversionary endeavor from a higher purpose, please fill me in, I must be missing something good.

I'm lost.

I thought the point about redistribution NOT really being a creation of the left, or a root, was kind of important, or alternatively, that redistribution is at the root of almost all politics- left and right- though not at the root of libertarian politics (as I understand the fragmented world of libertarian politics, and I don't understand it very well because I don't look at it much.) Not that we were discussing libertarians but I didn't want you to feel left out.

I'm not sure what the anticipated tar is/was, or how the actual argument was lost. I thought it was going along pretty well.
