"Tennessee Senate Race Now a Toss Up The list of competitive U.S. Senate races continues to grow: CQ Politics changed the rating on the Tennessee contest between Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) and Bob Corker (R) to No Clear Favorite from Leans Republican. "The consensus among state and national politics watchers is that Ford, since the primary, has run a much more effective campaign than Corker, who has faced some dissent among staunch GOP conservatives and repeated allegations launched by Ford and other Democrats about his actions as mayor and his personal financial dealings." The Cook Political Report: "It has taken even Democrats a while to accept that they have a real chance to win this seat, but recent polling, Democratic Rep. Harold Ford’s aggressive campaign and some bad press for GOP nominee Bob Corker have combined to defy the conventional wisdom." Earlier this week, Ford's campaign released an internal poll showing him ahead by six points. In Michigan, Stabenow on the Way to Blow Out From the Inside Michigan Politics newsletter, we learn that a recent Marketing Resource Group (R) poll finds Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) leading challenger Mike Bouchard (R), 52% to 30% (including leaners) with 15% still undecided. Rick Santorum (R-PA), 50% to 41% with Carl Romanelli gettting 5% support. With Romanelli excluded, Casey beats Santorum, 50% to 40% with 10% undecided. In the gubernatorial race, Gov. Ed Rendell is way ahead of challenger Lynn Swann (R), 55% to 37%. In Washington, Cantwell Leads by Nine Points In Washington's U.S. Senate race, a new Strategic Vision (R) poll shows Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) leading Mike McGavick (D), 49% to 40% with 11% undecided. In WA-8, Reichert in Battle To Hold GOP Seat In Washington's 8th congressional district, a new SurveyUSA poll shows Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA) neck-and-neck with challenger Darcy Burner (D). Reichert has a statistically insignificant 50% to 48% lead. In a poll last month, Reichert led by 13 points."
