How can they harm themselves permanently. They can always add zeros to fiat currencies, then shopped them, change the name or add a qualifier...and so on.

But wasn't Japan a piece of cake compared to what is in store for the USA? Your big boys might do a lot more than Japan did. As you suggest it will not work. But the end my be in an hyperinflatinary scenario rather than deflationary. Let see what guts they have.
