That is just plain silly. What is with these crazies???

I think this is the part they were concerned about:

Mr. Neuenfels's version is Modern German--i.e., gratuitously offensive. It is more Neuenfels than Mozart. Instead of appearing as the harbinger of peace, Idomeneo ends the opera parading the severed heads of Poseidon, Jesus, Buddha and the Prophet Muhammad. How do you spell "anachronistic balderdash"?

[Of course, no one talked about stopping the performance because it might offend Christians, Buddhists or Mermaids]

Mozart is not the problem. The problem is the production. It offends everybody. Only Muslims need be feared for their overreaction.

The director's chosen images are offensive to all. Nobody would have ever heard of whatever his name was if he had not offered a jar of urine with a crucifix in it as art. Christians in this country were not very happy about that event. Germany has allowed itself to be over run by Turkish muslims and must now consider their violent reprisal behaviors.
