Bushies lie intentionally all the time. They don't care because their lies are aimed solely at their base of evangelicals and rightwing extremists. Those people are the ones who still believe the lies like that Saddam had WMD and was behind 9-11, and that Bush is the great protector instead of the guy who let 9-11 happen and totally screwed up in Iraq. But this "please the base only" strategy is not going to work this time. Too many in their base have half a brain and growing doubts. And if you look at the polls, the hardliners who strong oppose Bush are about 45% and who strongly support him only 20%. So Bush's support is soft above 20%. Half of all his support is wavering and may not show up to vote.
