History has shown, over and over again, that when the mob deposes autocrats, what follows is no better, and often worse.

Zbigniew Brzezinski persuaded Carter to support a military coup in Iran, hoping to install a more moderate government, but the Iranians had other ideas, and installed the Ayatollah Khomeini.

We supported the mujahideen against the Soviets, but the Taliban filled the power gap.

Moderate, Westernized Iraqis persuaded the US to finally get rid of Sodom Insane, and the sequel has been chaos, except among the Kurds.

I don't know what lesson you derive from this.

The lesson I derive is that without a strong middle class, a "nation of shopkeepers" and professionals, that desires freedom and human rights, democracy ain't going anywhere good anytime soon.
