Wouldn't it have been SO much smarter of Hastert to have gotten past this business a year ago? Perhaps he had some foolish notion he could cover it up until AFTER the election? To be honest, I don't think they care enough. It was simply another dirty piece of business to ignore. I suspect the GOP is rife with this kind of stuff.......kind of like the Catholic church. And I don't mean there are more congressmen who are into teenagers but that corruption and perversion are pretty much everywhere in the party. Its become common enough that something like this doesn't cause much of a stir until it gets public.....and even then, its simply a political problem, an issue effecting congressional control. I don't think these people are capable of very much shame or embarrassment or remorse.
