Too bad there is no effective opposition party.

Since I have been back in the US and watching US network news, I have seen clips of Pelosi and Reid much more often than before.

I share your despair. OTOH, it is a gauntlet for a feisty 2008 candidate to pick up next year as the presidential race gets going.

"Another way to say that is we’ve got to have more men fall to honor the memories of those who have already fallen.”

Yup
it's all been said before, but it can't be said too often, or too clearly, because a minority of the population still doesn't "get" it- as we see here so often on SI.

The SPIN is commencing from the White House as well as the political threads and bloggers..... All condemning Woodward and saying the book is politically motivated for the coming elections..

God help us where is TRUTH today.

As an example here is what happened at my former school. The taxpayers being robbed over all those years by the Superintendent, his assistant and all those in the administrative office.

From The Roslyn News, 9/28/06
RIGANO SENTENCE: TWO TO SIX YEARS
FULL RESTITUTION ALSO PART OF RULING.
Ms. Rigano admitted stealing $852,231, all of which she will be forced to pay back to the school district....Ms. Rigano has returned $75,000. Additional proceeds are expected to be returned upon the sale of a Florida home that she currently holds in joint ownership.

Last week, Pamela Gluckin received a sentence of three to nine years in prison. (See Roslyn News, 9/21/06...She has repaid $1,976,843.22 of the $4,358,743 that she admitted stealing. ..She agreed to give half of her school district pension, $21,924 per year, to the school district during her stay in prison.)

Dr. Frank Tassone...was scheduled to be sentenced along with Ms Gluckin. However, he had his court date adjourned until Oct.4, citing an emergency health condition that landed him in ...the hospital. (Roslyn News, 9/21...Tassone has paid $1,918,028.40 of the $2,208,361 he admitted stealing.
( Newsday's article on Wednesday, 9/27, states "although she stole less than Gluckin or Tassone,.. Rigano played "a critical role" in an embezzlement scheme that lasted more than a decade, involved several school officials and cost the district $11.2 million.")
...Tassone was released from Lenox Hill Hospital and his doctor says a slow heartbeat, not a heart attack ...caused him to collapse hours before he was to be sent to prison. .."We expect him to be sentenced next week. (Oct.4)"
