I'd rather have American oil men running our country than chicoms. How about you?

It sure could be. I don't trust those oil companies any more than the guys pumping up the ME oil. I mean, anybody having a monopoly on printing money would always be tempted to make the best out of his position, right?

But - unfortunately neither my Toyota nor my BMW would operate without them.

Hi Taro et al, I'm not a conspiracy theorist and don't wear a tin hat, but I've just noticed something crazy. Oil has slipped 15% from the mid 70's to $63 since early August. During that same timeframe, gas prices have slipped 23%, from $3 to around $2.30 in my area. That seems to be a pretty large slip in gas compared to oil? Could it be that the oil companies are slimming their profit margins to keep their Republican benefactors in Congress this November?

Others have noticed the same inconsistency......but you know, the conspiracy theory is just a theory and has nothing to do with reality.

Not too crazy from my point-of-view. The supply chain from oil field to gas pump is rather complex, so you're never going to get a perfectly proportional comparison between oil and gas prices.
