ot i remember when one of the drivers claimed workmen's compensation for a back injury going back six months. said he told dispatcher but they never made out an accident or incident report. six months later he files for workman's compensation and dispatcher says he doesn't remember,, he says if he says he told me it must have happen.

I check out further and find out he hurt his back moving his neighbor's furniture and was complaining to the other drivers and garage guys for weeks.

I denied him workman's comp. Legal counsel tells me to pay it do not fight it. i wanted to set example. so we go to court and judge says to contracted local lawyer we hired to represent us.. How come a big company like you are picking on my neighbor.. seems judge was his next door neighbor. guilty. pay the workmens comp.

that was my first experience with courts and law. claims manager who advised i pay earlier didn't rub it in and it costs us about 10 grand to fight it a few decades back for about a five minute speech by judge on how bad we are not to pay this poor guy workman's comp. gggg

some other later year experiences working with in company lawyers it always seemed agreements were worked out before court hearing.
