It's a rumor, but it makes sense as James Baker, Scowcroft, William Buckley, Kristol, Powell, several top Reaganites and maybe even GHW Bush (whose son has practically ignored him) have beev very uneasy about the way things are going. Also, who has more to gain from Bushies being taken down than McCain? If Bush went the way of Nixon, McCain might be the successor and the GOP fathers would be very happy about that. Remember, Rove's strategy of giving the religous right wackos and neocons control of the party may have won them some elections (with the help of cheating) but those are very unpleasant and unstable people to be in leadership roles. Also, they have been proven wrong now. Schiavo discrediting the religoous right, and Iraq discrediting the neocons. I have also heard GOP pundits on TV saying that maybe the best thing that can happen for the GOP would be to lose congress, which would probably mean Bush being impeached and removed.
