cfm100, Re: QCOM disappoints and >>>

why is concensus only calling for a 20 cent increase and I think 20 cents is the high end of concensus. Whats gobbeling up the other 40 cents?

Perhaps you didn’t notice this ( The “analyst’s” consensus EPS **year ago** estimates)in my prior posts. A year ago the consensus EPS estimates for ’06 was $1.44 (15% under the current high estimate. For ’07 the consensus EPS estimate was $1.59, 14% below the current ’07 consensus and a whopping 26% below the current high estimate.

Apparently the analyst community is shy about projecting one year out EPS increases above 40%. We probably can’t blame them due to the mind-set of the fairly recent bubble, and the Q’s initial FY06 guidance at $1.45

The other thing to consider is with now one year of history with GAAP ESO expense reporting, the majority in the analyst community may be switching over to GAAP estimates which in the Q’s case would be about $0.20 less than the non-GAAP proforma figures current in use.

..............................FY05...FY06....FY07.....%05-07...%06-07

EPS
..Your # (high?).....$1.17....$1.65....$2.00.....+71%.......+21%
..Avg.................................1.63.... $1.82......+56%.......+12%

..Year ago est....................$1.44....$1.59

Re: “Until the BRCM & NOK BS is settled Q needs to put up big numbers.

Wonder what you consider a big number???? :>(

FY06 @ $1.64 represents over 40% growth in one year. Over two years EPS growth is over 71%, and this is with the big R&D increases (to sustain long term exceptional EPS growth). Over the past 18 years the S&P500 averages about 7% EPS growth annually. Are you not satisfied unless annual EPS growth is above 50%, 75%, 100%?????
