I've already seen the RWE on SI spinning this. It's truly amazing to see how things get spun- even if the situation is true, it's not going to move the RWE. Probably will have some impact on the center though.

Two Months Before 9/11, an Urgent Warning to Rice

I picked up the Woodward book on Saturday and am a little over half way through now.

Woodward makes a big deal of this meeting. Clearly it was so in Tenet's mind and in Black's mind. Neither has argued with quotes Woodward includes in the text.

If the mobilization of the federal government that the Clinton folk undertook when warned about the possible attacks before the millenium stuff is compared to the response of the Bush administration on the heels of all the warnings they received from the time they took office until 9-11, the difference is clear. The Bush folk didn't even consider it seriously enough to call meetings at the principles level. Let alone mobilize the resources of the federal government.

I think it's unfortunate that we have to have this debate as to who is more responsible for 9-11, Clinton or Bush, but it's clear the Bush people are pushing it, so the Clinton folk have no recourse but to respond.

The failure of Rice to take this warning from Tenet and Black seriously, as in do something immediately, certainly feeds the flames.
