Wasn't Cisco early in using contract manufactures to control costs? How much actual making of stuff did they do in 1999/2000 vs now?

Their contract manufactures... be it Jabil or even FNSR for components, are going overseas for assembly, but I think the design and marketing are still in the US.

Are you suggesting that they built all those expensive R&D offices to do contract manufacturing?

Agreed, but that's not the same as saying ... as you now are saying for Cisco ... that the majority of offshoring is via contractors.

If you're going to add contractors in on the offshore side of the ledger ... then you have to add contractors in on the domestic side too.
