There are over six billion people on the planet now.

Believe it or not, the human population does effect the environment in a big way.

- 70% of the planet is covered by water. YET, it has been over fished to the extent that most fish stocks are in dire need of some sort of management.

Subject 54570

- The Earths Rain Forests are fast disappearing due to man made activity.

- The planets animal species are fast becoming endangered because of man made activity

- We have asset stripped many of the earths resources without considering the true effect of our actions.

So even if mainstream science is wrong, it would be much better that we learn how to help model our climate now rather then find out later at significant peril to endanger the existence of the human race. How would extinction of the human race effect the economy?

Besides, environment and climate study activities generates lots of new jobs. Take the recycling industry for a start. Keeping the environment clean is a USEFUL JOB TO DO. Ditto climate studies. Much safer then digging up methane hydrate so longnshort can fuel up his gas guzzelling humvee.
