We didn't partner with Musharraf to bring democracy anywhere. We made an agreement with Musharraf to enable us to deploy to Afghanistan. The alternatives would have been to force our way through Pakistan againt that countries objections, or to leave the Taliban in place.

Of course if we are going to destroy the government of Afghanistan we have to replace it with something. I'd prefer a democracy to creating a new dictatorship.
