Clinton cut old Cold War useless programs, not useful programs. And the GOP was 100% supportive of those cuts. But jacking up defense spending doesn't necessarily translate to making us any safer. That is a very corrupt industry and you can be sure under Bush tens and tens of billions have been totally wasted. maybe hundreds of billions. SDI for instance is a huge waste of money. It doesn't even work. The whole Iraq War has also turned into a colossal waste of money. Maybe as much as a trillion bucks before we're through. And all to make us less safe and secure. But the defense contractors and Halliburton do great. They win, we lose.
