Surely even the politicians get it right once in awhile?

Theoretically possible, but a tragedy if and when they do. Gives the electorate an unwarranted sense of security.

What purpose is served focusing on the things 90% of people agree is worthwhile government spending? Especially since it's a small fraction of the total anyway.
