I do understand that. In many countries child brides are still permitted. But sexual behaviors we have studied, in this country, are very clearly distinct. The adult heterosexual is not a pedophile- though he may (understandably) lust after adolescent girls, a well socialized heterosexual respects the law. Same goes for homosexual men. That some men are pedophiles has nothing much to do with their underlying sexual orientation- the main issue is that they cannot relate to adults. Whether Foley is a pedophile, or merely a homosexual who doesn't respect adolescent boundaries, is an open question- because I think more facts will probably come out on this. The evidence thus far, though, suggests he has terrible judgment, pursues minors even when they do not wish to be pursued, and should NOT be serving on a committee dealing with missing and exploited children. I'm sure like heterosexuals, homosexuals have fantasies about adolescents- heck the mainstream film American Beauty explored this well travelled territory, but the man with impulse control does not act on his fantasies when he knows they are inappropriate (or illegal).

It is my observation that when the media is involved it is always the outlandish gays and homosexuals who are in focus with the camera to make a splash. Especially in Pride Parades etc.. Oprah had a great program the other day. Women who had been married and then found out that they were lesbians.. They were beautiful women with dignity and grace. Stereotyping is something that I have always fought against.. You have to be taught... remember that song from South Pacific. To hate all the people your relatives hate. Thank goodness you grew up and had an open mind neolib.
