Enviro-Recovery Commences Brazilian Operations
Business Wire, June 20, 2000

Business Editors

ASHLAND, Wisc.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2000

Enviro-Recovery Inc. (OTCBB:EVRE), Ashland, WI, and EcoWood, Ltd., Belem, Brazil, have entered into a joint venture providing Enviro-Recovery with the rights to a reserve of submerged logs in the Amazon River System in the State of Para.

Under the Joint Venture Agreement, EcoWood shall recover and process logs exclusively for Enviro-Recovery which will finance log retrieval and milling operations and develop export markets for the environmentally safe wood products. EcoWood is affiliated with Fund Amazon which is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving a portion of the Amazon rain forest by purchasing virgin timber lands to be held in trust for future generations. A portion of the profits from the joint venture between Enviro-Recovery and EcoWood, Ltd. will be used to add to Fund Amazons' land holdings in the Amazon watershed.

Recovery operations have already commenced and will be rapidly expanded. The submerged logs were lost over the past decades when they became waterlogged and sank while being floated down the rivers to mills on the lower Amazon. The volume of submerged log reserves is estimated as several billion-board ft. consisting of most of the merchantable species from that region. The logs are being transported to leased sawmills located in Breves, Brazil where they will be processed into lumber and veneer for shipment to markets around the world.

This venture will not only produce large quantities of high grade lumber and wood products without cutting a single tree, but will help to improve water quality by removing excess organic material from the river system and improve navigation in some areas where the sunken logs are a hazard to passing ships. The company is investigating other opportunities of a similar nature in South and Central America where its expertise in recovering and processing submerged timber can be utilized.

Enviro-Recovery Inc. is the leading supplier of old growth northern hardwood lumber made from logs that sank in the rivers and lakes of North America during the logging era of the 1800's. The salvaged old growth hardwood is antique quality wood that has not been available for almost a century in wholesale quantities. Superior Water-Logged Lumber specializes in recovering that lost resource and processing the saturated wood with proprietary drying techniques to provide an environmentally sound old growth wood product to high end home decor, furniture and instrument manufacturers and premier home and commercial building.
