I realize "true pedophilia" strictly defined involves only prepubescent children. So it excludes "older teens", which are apparently fair game, as well as younger teens, 12 year olds maybe, depending on where you consider puberty starts. That's why I used both molestation and pedophilia in my post. I don't think you mean to say that the molestation of adolescents that Gerry Studds engaged in (with a 15 year old) and Mark Foley probably has (with who knows who), is okay. If molesting adolescents isn't okay, what is wrong with counting those instances? Why should we exclude "older teens" - which will inevitably be defined as beyond puberty so as to limit the count to "only pedophilia" - from the count just to protect the reputation of gay molesters?I hope the RW will not try to do what Foley himself is doing- assuming some odd mantle of victimhood. There's an awful lot of "but they did it first" fingerpointing. Why does that matter? True moral conviction takes its own stand, regardless, and integrity demands that responsibility be taken-- especially when it involves the welfare of our children. Okay, let's talk about responsibility. Foley resigned and he is and will be shunned by Republicans. Seems like the responsible thing to do to me. Yes, his lawyer claimed he was molested himself as a young person, which maybe typical of many gays. That is pretty standard these days - its what the married governor who called himself a "gay American" did too. So they all do that, RW or LW. Foley joined a host of Republicans who resigned or were punished by their party after being caught in a scandal. Being a Republican I'm happy about that. I think it is responsibility in action. Does the other side do this? See the Gerry Studds, Barney Frank episodes for your answer. Not to mention Mary Jo Kopechne, Bill Clinton, and many many other names I could mention. Maybe you should talk about responsibility to some other folks.
