The 1 million fanatics may not give a rat's ass about oil revenues, but the other 1.4 billion Muslims of sound mind and reason are going to put an end to their bullshit. The moderates may have been a little lenient on the jihadis as they spiked the price of oil by adding to the risk premium. Now that Saudi Arabia and Iran are seeing the oil contracts go to new countries like Russia, the moderates will finally discover spinal columns and put an end to jihadi resistance. The world is almost near full consensus that the fanatics are ruining the only economic platform in the ME, with the exception of the Iranians.

If the Saudis are as brutal as I hope, they will put an end to the anti American violence. They are hiring US firms for the first time in 20 years to upgrade all of their oil field equipment. Egypt formally rejects any protests against the government. Afghanistan and Pakistan are going to close the madrasses and force the Taliban to return to peace. Thankfully, we have great leaders in both countries that reject fundamentalism. Kuwait and Iraq are going to remain allies of the US, no matter what happens from here.

If Iran swings towards economic survival, they will rationally decide to follow the path of least resistance and accept a nuclear partner to monitor their enrichment. Iran is the only place on the face of the planet that is clinging to the obscene belief they have a right to nuclear determination. Iran cannot argue that they need enrichment for nuclear fuel - only nuclear weapons need enrichment. We are still buying all of the nuclear rods from Russian stockpiles to make them suitable for consumption in our domestic nuclear power plants. We have to take the enriched nuclear rods and turn them back into low grade uranium fuel. At least we are getting weapons off the market.

I agree with you that we need to take every threat at face value. I am so happy that Congress was able to pass legislation that will enable the military to treat terrorists as enemy combatants as a point of law. We have legally accepted permanent legislation against the jihadi terrorist regime so they can never surface again. We will never have to wait for Congress or the CIA to approve special legislation to attack terrorists. The global network of anti terrorism will scoop them up and lock them away from the courts for the rest of their lives. We may not be able to force confessions from them anymore, but the immediate threat of global terrorism is such that forced confessions will only facilitate more intolerant fundamentalism. I think that we should be able to accept a ban to violent confessions if the terrorists end violent conversions.
