well, I think most of the peak earning engineers are single. The avg age is early 30s anyway. But that isn't the point, the point is that what you are saying is that you are ok with some entity making these large judgement calls about somebody's ability to pay and I have issues with that. I'm not a big fan of government intrusion into people's lives. Most engineers I know can pay over 50% of their income in housing, so be it? What is your problem with this. I know what I spent when I was 28 trying to buy a house. Literally nothing, but the government felt that it was ok to restrict my mortgage based on some crazy scheme that seems to apply to a lot of people you know but nobody I know.
