in May, US midwives helping Afghani women were told they'd HAVE to leave the country. The situation had deteriorated badly, was spinning out of control, and they could no longer be assured of protection. And, this I know because I met two of them. They've been reassigned somewhere in Africa, where it's much safer. That's how bad Afghanistan is. It's unimaginable to us how bad things are for those poor women under the Taliban. Most of them have mild to severe chronic bladder infections. They can't drink water because there are no facilities for women, only the men.
