Crude oil for November delivery fell 73 cents, or 1.2 percent, to $57.95 a barrel at 11:19 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices touched $57.75, the lowest since Feb. 16. Futures have declined 26 percent from a record $78.40 a barrel on July 14 as tensions in the Middle East eased and fuel stockpiles increased.

What I'm hoping for is that energy speculators pushed oil to a point where consumer say ...it and switch to more efficient way of transportation. You can still drive your SUV but just don't use SUV to commute 100+ miles.
Not sure if it's up to date but only one third of crude actually gets converted into gas and gasoline is a main driver for crude demand. Consequently if demand for gasoline dwindles crude might flood.
