I misspoke.....Webster's isn't specific when it comes to age instead it links you to the Healthline site which says:

"The focus of pedophilia is sexual activity with a child. Many courts interpret this reference to age to mean children under the age of 18. Most mental health professionals, however, confine the definition of pedophilia to sexual activity with prepubescent children, who are generally age 13 or younger. The term ephebophilia, derived from the Greek word for "youth," is sometimes used to describe sexual interest in young people in the first stages of puberty."

I imagine it gets very confusing since the age of consent varies from state to state. But it makes sense that pedophilia mostly refers to children who are younger than 13. Think about it.......in other cultures and in this country's own history, people were getting married by the time they were 16. Go back far enough and it was almost by necessity when someone just north of 30 was considered elderly. Its only in the last 50 years that the teen years are considered an extension of childhood.

BTW I am not saying what Foley did was okay. First he was dealing with a subordinate. Secondly, teenagers are hardly equipped to deal with sexual relationships among their peers let alone someone nearly 40 years his senior. Foley was very much the predator and that's gross no matter what the definition for pedophilia is.

Some of the states / countries are a little too strict, if you asked me. 18? It seems like there is a lot of crime going on between the sheets.

BTW, did this Foley guy actually have sex with any of the teens?
