This statement so well intended is so far from reality with both parties today. Catch the NPR Bill Moyer's documentary which aired last night.

If you want a revelation about the motives of the right just get your belly full... Sorry it might make you ill..

I am referring to your line that if a person in public office should have their first priority the public interest..

This doc reveals that it's their own interests that come first and right now I would guess that this is true of both parties...

The hyperpartisanship so prevalent today pushes everyone involved to put the party's interest and the movement's interest ahead of anything else. Anything that happens must be viewed in the us-good-them-bad framework I see from several posters on SI today.
