I just hope this firestorm is sustained long enough to precipitate the downfall of Republican control...reading through messages re: Foley fallout message board over at MSNBC, this person posted fears and skepticism expressed here:

It's scary, I don't trust the republicans so much that I'm sort of half wondering if some of this "Foley thing" is not just another republican diversion (like (A) Harriet Meirs, (B) Social Security, and (C) meaningful immigration reform) from the real QUAGMIRE in IRAQ and the rubber-stamped congress quietly cementing their own power. Certainly his immediate resignation was damage control, but this thing about AAA-rehab just smells of ROVE taking attention away from the day's other crucial headlines. Isn't it a shame when you have to question the motives of every action they make like this... POWER - that's all they are interested in. DIVERT and SPIN... I question everything they do!

Just look at how they manipulated our post 9/11 patriotism into an overwhelming degree of "U.S. nationalism” - where all we wanted to do was INVADE - INVADE - INVADE at the slightest wave of their hand. Terrorism, in this sense, became like a wonderful ‘invisible enemy’ which allowed them to ‘allege’ mysterious connections to any government it wanted to attack! NATIONALISM is NOT "PATRIOTISM" my friends! The one leads to hatred and global warfare, the other leads to pride and a hope for what tomorrow will bring. Which do we have?

Let's VOTE in Nov. people... There may not be another chance.
